History

In 1999, the Ofer Brothers Group became the controlling shareholder of the Israel Corporation. In 2004, the Ofer Group-controlled Israel Corporation acquired the Israeli Government’s remaining ZIM shares, completing the privatization of the company, and ushering in a new era of streamlined decision-making processes. Immediately after securing control, a new plan was implemented calling for aggressive global expansion and increased capital efficiency.

13 state-of-the-art high-TEU ships were integrated into the fleet, with additional new ships ordered for delivery in 2006-2008.

Cutting-edge information systems were deployed to improve tracking, communications and back-office efficiency.

A new emphasis was placed on value-added ancillary services as a key to maximizing customer service and to increase the company’s control of the supply chain.
