ZIM is represented in this region by ZIM Panama, a joint venture with Boyd Steamship Corp.
There are four terminals next to the Panama Canal. On the Pacific side is the port of Balboa; ZIM only at calls this port with the ZCP service to discharge containers from Asia that are then sent by rail to Cristobal for release to consignees. On the Atlantic side there are three terminals: Cristobal Terminal (PACBL), Manzanillo International Terminal (PAZJL), and Colon Container Terminal (PACOL). ZIM presently calls at PAZJL with the SCE2 service (eastbound and westbound) as well as PACBL with its own VSA feeder service. All three terminals are within a radius of 3 miles (5 km), and it is not possible to move containers between terminals.
