Rail blockade update

14-Jun-2023|18: 26

Dear customer,

We would like to share with you the recent updates regarding the railroad blockade.

After the police has dismantled the illegal blockade in Tyendinaga, ON, which blocked the railroad between Montreal and Brampton, CN has resumed its service which was later disrupted by sporadic incidents. CN has diligently ran trains through this same route as well as alternatives ones, however the resumption remains gradual and with limited intermodal capacity.

CN’s schedule remains unpredictable at this stage which unfortunately doesn’t allow us to provide you with a specific ETA for your shipment. We apologize for this inconvenience and ask for your understanding of this complex situation.

The backlog remains high and clearing the ground counts in Brampton is the main focus in order to free space and allow the inbound traffic to flow in, we expect decreasing the ground counts to take several weeks therefore we keep monitoring the situation very closely and we multiply our efforts jointly with CN to reach the usual service level in the shortest time possible.
Import from eastern Canada to Montreal is moving without disruption, and import destined to Brampton will resume within the coming few days.
Export from Brampton has started moving and CN’s RV for future shipments are now open for Brampton.
Please be informed that our alternative plan to mitigate the delay remains available. We can always assist with offering trucking options from the port of Halifax or CN Taschereau  to Toronto (GTA), we also offer you the option to terminate your cargo and allow you to pick it up before it reaches Brampton, depending on its current position.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation
