19 ZIM Magazine CAPE SOUNIO Joins the Asia-South Amer ica Line ZIM Brazil held a client event to celebrate the addition of the Cape Sounio, the largest ship in ZIM's fleet, to the ASE Asia-South America line. The Cape Sounio was built at HHI Shipyards in the Philippines and delivered in April 2017, and at 11,037 TEU is now the largest ship in ZIM's fleet. The ship's structure is typical of the new generation of mega-ships, with the living quarters and bridge close to the ship's center. At 330 meters long and 48 meters wide, the ship also has 1,453 reefer plugs. The ASE line sails from the Port of Pusan in South Korea, continuing to call at main ports in Asia and the east coast of South America, including in Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil. The ship's arrival at Brazil's Port of Santos garnered great media attention, with local TV reporting that it was in fact the largest ship to ever call at the port. ZIM Brazil held a client reception aboard the ship in the port.
