23 ZIM Magazine Fun wi th Containers Gal Marine, a ZIM subsidiary that specializes in converting old shipping containers into various structures and facilities, is taking part again in a new and exciting project in Israel – a recreation complex built entirely from shipping containers. The converted containers were transported overnight from Gal Marine's facility to the Ramat Gan Diamond Exchange in late August. The complex, set to be completed in the coming months, will be a shopping, dining and entertainment destination modeled after similar complexes worldwide such as London's Boxpark market. The advantages of using containers are many – relatively low costs, durability, flexible configuration, design options, and no less important – the environmental factor: recycling containers instead of scrapping them is an economical, easy and eco-friendly solution. The new complex, which will be built entirely from ZIM containers, is a joint initiative of private entrepreneurs and the Ramat Gan Municipality (a large city in the center of ISRAEL).
