5 ZIM Magazine After more than 39 years at ZIM, including eight years as CEO, Rafi Danieli's term came to a close with a moving ceremony attended by head office employees. Rafi Danieli joined us in 1978, and quickly flourished within the company, taking on instrumental roles in many large-scale and complex processes over the years. His name has come to be internationally recognized as a prominent industry leader, and synonymous with the company's contribution to the shipping industry and the global economy. Rafi Danieli ably led the company though the most difficult period in its history, and took considerable steps that effectively saved the company from collapse. The event started with a moving tribute from members of the managerial staff who have worked closely with Danieli over the years. Chairman of the Board Aharon Fogel and Danieli's personal assistant and veteran office manager Merryl Bromand both shared touching personal words and stories.Video farewells from employees and managers all over the world were screened during the event, and ZIM's choir entertained the audience with renditions of Danieli's favorite songs. Finally, the incoming CEO, Eli Glickman, made a speech thanking Mr. Danieli for his remarkable contributions over the years.
