9 ZIM Magazine After taking office, Eli Glickman toured ZIM branches in Europe, the U.S. and Asia over the month of July. The purpose of these visits was not only to get acquainted with the staff, but to give the new CEO a chance to share his vision, and hear firsthand about ongoing activities and challenges from people in the field. Tour ing ZIM's Global Off ices GERMANY The central messages presented to managers and staff focused on profitability as the primary goal: Evaluating each and every commercial endeavor for profitability, in order to streamline and lower costs. Injecting new energy and motivation into the sales department and making it hungry for success. Expanding the authority and initiative of the sales team, adding incentives, adding resources and measuring performance. Focusing on profits rather than cargo volume. Strengthening and promoting ZIM's competitive advantages – our personal touch and our status as an independent carrier. Promoting computerized systems in order to become a leader in the field. To summarize the above, the CEO emphasized six key points for success: Profitability Customer focus Speed Digital capital Human capital Organizational culture Below is a short photographic summary of the visits. The meeting in Germany was attended by representatives of offices in Belgium, the Netherlands, the UK, France, Poland and Germany, as well as trade managers.
