In Memor iam
Tony Korenberg
Two months ago, dear Tony, the manager of the Events
and Catering Department in the Administration Division,
passed away after his brave battle with a serious illness.
Tony’s manager, Kobi Keren, said the following words at
his funeral:
Tony, our dear friend!
I had the privilege of first meeting you 25 years ago.
During the 31 years you worked at ZIM, you distinguished
yourself thanks to your professionalism, and mainly due
to your honest desire to give everyone service with a
smile and with all your heart. It was no coincidence that
you were declared an outstanding employee again and
again. You always wanted to please everyone around you
– and succeeded. And all this with a smile and with joy.
I had the privilege of working with you for 12 years, and
I was blessed with not only a dedicated and professional
worker, but a good friend. I encountered your exceptional
character, your goodhearted nature, your infinite love for
all your family. You were truly one of a kind!
I was always impressed by your extensive, in-depth
knowledge of any field, from chess to computers, and to
your sophistication in terms of movies, art, and history.
You were an inspiration to us all in everything relating to
commitment, sharing with everyone, kindness, caring for
all, and your desire to help. I am certain that my opinion
is shared by all of the hundreds of workers at ZIM and that
this is how you will be remembered in their hearts forever.
In the last year and a half, you fought like a lion against
this terrible illness and expressed wonderful optimism to
everyone that never ceased till your final days.
