In November of 1972, Mrs. Piombino, the wife of Genoa’s mayor, launched the
fleet’s fourth ship. Moshe Kashti, CEO of Zim, recalled little-known historical
events in his launching address: “We named the new ship Zim Genova to
honor the people of your country and city, who assisted our ships of refugees
at the end of World War II and who helped us in our struggle to establish the
State of Israel.”
