the day the headlines of the Mishmar newspaper trumpeted the defeat of the Nazis in

was to convey thousands of refugees and Holocaust survivors out of Europe to safety in

The Name and the Flag                                                                   ‫השם והדגל‬

Name and Flag: The name “Zim”, from a biblical word for “large ship,” was originally    ‫ והוא הוצע על ידי דוד‬,”‫ מקורו במלה מקראית שמשמעותה “אוניות גדולות‬,”‫השם “צים‬

based on Theodor Herzl’s original idea for the future State of Israel’s flag.
