In 1947, the crew of Zim’s first ship, the Kedmah, was sent to the port of Antwerp where the
ship was undergoing renovations before setting out. The renovations lasted many months.

The Israel Maritime League was a voluntary organization whose goal was to promote
maritime education and awareness in Mandatory Palestine. The organization was one
of the most important supporters of Zim’s founding and the purchase of its first ship
